Basic book-keeping is essentially an exercise in historical record-keepng. It is a scoreboard of "what has happened". Whilst this information will enable your business to comply with all of the legal obligations it will not necessarily provide you with much data that is useful to the daily running of your business.

This is where management accounting comes in. It takes the book-keeping data and turns it into regular reporting information that can be used as the basis for decision making.
